- VINEYARD NOTES: English Hill Vineyard is an estate-planted high-density mosaic of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah surrounded by
expansive pasture and rangeland. Overlooking Tomales and the Marin Coast Range, weather swings dramatically
between maritime and continental influences—Pacific fog engulfs the vineyard on summer mornings; afternoon breezes lift golden minerals from the ground to the folds of leaves. The Old Wente Selection Chardonnay grapes were hand-harvested on the dawn of October 15th, yielding 4.4 pounds per vine from the 0.45-Acre block. The fruit was whole-cluster pressed and fermented in seasoned French Burgundy barrels, then aged sur lie 18 months with
complete Malolactic Fermentation. - WINE MAKER: Kurt Beitler
- TASTING NOTES: Bright golden color with saline, ocean aromas, including lemon and hint of exotic guava fruit. Citron and blood orange flavors with stone fruits, lilac and jasmine. The finish is youthful and lingers with delightfully savory, crisp topography.
- WINE STYLE: Medium-bodied
- PAIRING SUGGESTIONS: Scallops, roasted poultry with herb butter, or creamy risottos. It also complements soft cheeses and grilled vegetables beautifully.
